Friendly databases
A "friendly" database is a database or dataset from which the user can "derive" records into the current data source: this means the user can search in a friendly database and move or copy a record into the current data source when the latter has been opened by the user.
Deriving records from other databases or datasets is very useful when cataloguing items that contain comparable data.
An example of a friendly data source is the Archives (accessions) data source for the Archives catalogue.
